When Tamara Odinec approached us with her vision for My Next Chapter, she had already identified a critical reality: divorce is an overwhelming, often isolating experience where accurate information and supportive community can make all the difference. What existed in the market was fragmented with legal resources here, therapy options there, community forums elsewhere. Nothing brought together all the diverse needs of someone navigating divorce under one supportive roof.

Our first task was developing a "proto brand" that would resonate with people during this vulnerable time in their lives. Rather than creating an exhaustive brand strategy that might never be fully implemented, we focused on crafting a lightweight visual identity that could help launch the platform swiftly and be built upon over time.

The brand needed to evoke an optimistic feel while still retaining the solidity and trustworthiness of the experts behind the content. We developed a core logotype utilizing a friendly yet solid serif typeface with a customized "N" to hint at growth through an emotional journey. A bright color palette and gestural line treatment were applied to backgrounds on social media and within the product, giving the necessary levity without conflicting with the serious nature of the content.

This thoughtful visual approach strikes the perfect balance: professional enough to handle weighty topics yet warm enough to feel supportive rather than clinical. Most importantly, it's a design system that could be immediately applied across the platform, social channels, and various content formats while remaining flexible enough to evolve with the business.

The platform's architecture presented unique challenges. How do you organize diverse content spanning legal advice, financial planning, mental health support, parenting guidance, and even dating after divorce in a way that doesn't overwhelm users already dealing with enough complexity in their lives, especially when divorce is often not a linear process.

Our solution: personalization through careful onboarding. New members answer thoughtful questions about their divorce stage (considering, actively navigating, or post-divorce) and their most pressing areas of need. This allows the platform to immediately serve the most relevant content first, creating a customized dashboard that evolves with the user's journey.

Perhaps most importantly, we infused the entire experience with an attitude of optimism. Not toxic positivity that dismisses real challenges, but genuine hope grounded in practical support. The branding, content approach, and community guidelines all reinforce the core message: this difficult chapter is not the end of your story, but the beginning of a new one you get to write on your own terms.
